Our Board
The board of the Louisiana Chapter of AFCC is composed of mental health and legal professionals who work across the state to improve outcomes for families.
President: Keri Forbess-McCorquodale

Keri has over 30 years of experience in the mental health arena and is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a National Certified Counselor, Certified Employee Assistance Professional, a Parent Coordinator and a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional under the Department of Transportation guidelines. She specializes in the areas of couples, adolescents and their families, substance abuse, as well as business and industry.
Keri promotes volunteerism through membership in The Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc., for which she is a past president, as a past board member of the Calcasieu Women’s Shelter, and as a current board member of the
Southwest\Louisiana Law Center. Additionally, she is a past president of the Louisiana Marriage and Family Counselor’s Association.
When asked why Keri is so committed to AFCC-LA, she responded: “A s a Parent Coordinator, I find AFCC Louisiana to be invaluable. I have learned so much about the court system, and have formed relationships with others doing this incredible work to help Louisiana families. I also love having the latest research about families and children involved in the court system at my fingertips!”

Heather T. Landry is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Appraiser in good standing with the state of Louisiana providing mental health services statewide. She also maintains additional licensure in multiple states.
A University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin Cajun and a McNeese State University Alumni, Heather founded PBH Behavioral Consulting and Counseling LLC to provide individuals with secured, HIPAA approved, licensed mental health, Telehealth services in Louisiana, Texas, Nevada, and Washington. She proudly maintains merit as a Qualified Child Custody/Parent Plan Evaluator, Mediator, and Parent Coordinator.
Her personal stories define her priority for ensuring individuals receive qualified licensed mental health professional services relating to Child Custody/Parent Plan Evaluations, Mediation, Parent Coordination, Reunification Therapy, Co-parenting, Parallel Parenting, Parent Alienation/Parent-Child Conflict, Pre-surrendering Counseling for Adoptions, Brief Focused Assessments, Risk Assessments, Independent Behavioral Health Consultations,

When Heather is asked “why AFCC Louisiana”, she says, at the end of the day, my children are my greatest accomplishment, and AFCC Louisiana gives me the opportunity as a mother and a LPC Supervisor and Appraiser to employ a variety of networking resources with qualified professionals who effectively collaborate with each other with the common goal to ensure our greatest commodity, the children of our communities who are involved in the family law system, have their individual needs properly addressed by serving as their voice, providing encouragement, using best practice based research methodologies, and conveying our desire for change to achieve the greatest possible psychological outcome for those involved.
Treasurer/ Past President: Hon. Maggie Simar

Since 2003, Maggie has been the Hearing Officer for the 16th Judicial District’s Family Court docket. In that capacity, she hears and pre-tries all family filings, including custody, child support, domestic violence litigation, spousal support, use of property, community property and any other ancillary issue pending from divorce, custody or domestic violence litigation, including criminal non support. Prior to Maggie’s service at the Court, she worked at Acadiana Legal Service for 4 years, practicing exclusively family law. Before private practice, she worked for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in the Criminal Central Staff.

Maggie is highly engaged in her community; she is steadfastly committed to promoting Access to Justice and currently serves on the Lafayette Bar Foundation board, the Louisiana State Bar Association Editorial Board, the Louisiana State Bar Foundation board, Junior League of Lafayette Management Team and Board of Directors and Maddie’s Footprints boards.

Secretary: John Martin

John Martin, Esq., MBA, MSCM, is a successful commercial and family law attorney with 24+ years experience; is an active member of the LA State Bar as well as affiliate member of the State Bar of Georgia; and is a mediator, arbitrator, and conflict coach concentrating in all matters of commercial and family conflict resolution with practices in Georgia and Louisiana. John earned his BA in Political Science and MBA from LSU, his JD from Southern University Law Center, and MS in Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University, School of Conflict Management, Peacebuilding, and Development. Additionally, John serves as a course facilitator in business law, negotiation, and conflict management for Cornell University, is the primary trainer of Domestic Relations mediation at the Kennesaw State University, Conflict Management Center, is an adjunct professor at Johnson University teaching business law, negotiation, and ethics in both the BS and MBA programs, and is a CASA Happily married living in Atlanta, GA, with three teenage children, John splits his time between Louisiana and Georgia focusing on a thriving in-person and virtual mediation and conflict coaching practice.

22nd JDC

Judge Patti Oppenheim is the Judge for Division K of the 22nd Judicial District Court, one of the two divisions of the Court which focuses on family law, including divorces, custody, child support, spousal support and community property. Her term began on January 1, 2021.

Judge Oppenheim is a Board-Certified Family Law Specialist. She has been a part of the 22nd Judicial District Court’s Family Court since its inception in 2009. She is a long-time member of the Self-Represented Litigant Committee, a member of the international multi-disciplinary Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and serves on the Board of Directors for the state chapter of AFCC. Additionally, Judge Oppenheim has served as the Administrator and Counselor for the 22nd JDC Inns of Court since 2009, a group that promotes attorney civility and professionalism, and is currently serving as its acting President.

Kim is a principal at Hoffman Nguyen & Kuehl. She is a top rated licensed Louisiana attorney with the distinct honor of being named Top 50: Louisiana Super Lawyers; Top 50: New Orleans Super Lawyers; and Top 25: Women Louisiana Super Lawyers and continues to maintain these distinctions. She devotes and maintains an active general civil litigation practice since 2004, with a concentration in Family and Domestic law. Kim brings a high level of expertise and experience to all of her cases. She practices in all areas of family law, including counseling clients considering pre- and postnuptial agreements, highly contentious child custody cases, support actions, complex property disputes, and dissolution of business entities related to divorce. Her experience and acumen in interpreting and applying the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) and the Hague Convention On the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (HCCAICA 1980) along with the relationships she has developed with attorneys in other states and countries provide her clients with a legal advantage in interstate and intrastate jurisdictional disputes, international child custody disputes, child abduction and relocation cases.

In addition to her law practice, Kim is a frequent lecturer at Loyola University College of Law New Orleans, and she also lectures on family law topics at continuing professional education seminars. Kim also serves her community on various boards and participates in projects near and dear to her heart through a number of organizations, including, The Pro Bono Project, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Junior League of New Orleans.

When asked "why AFCC-LA", she says that the resolution of family conflict through an interdisciplinary approach is vital and AFCC provides not only a bridge between professionals, but also access to the most updated information and resources.

Lisa LeBon Williams, LCSW-BACS is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice. She currently works with individuals and families who are managing the effects of traumatic events including court related matters. Lisa graduated with degrees in Education and Social Work from Louisiana State University, and has two decades of experience providing compassionate care to individuals facing challenging interpersonal dynamics.

Legal Student Member: Deon Sumer

Born and raised in Louisiana, Deon Sumer developed a deep-rooted connection to her home state. She exhibited perseverance by working full-time while completing her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, where she pursued a Bachelors degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science. During her time at LSU, she also competed for Miss Louisiana. Upon graduating from LSU, Deon embarked on a four-year journey as the Executive Assistant to Governor Bobby Jindal. In addition, she served as the Executive Director of America Next. In 2021, she enrolled at Southern University Law Center as a single mom. She has contributed her skills and dedication to the 19th JDC Public Defenders Office, advocating for the rights of the underserved. Furthermore, she has served as a teaching assistant at the Southern
University Law Center, sharing her knowledge of how to navigate the complexities of law school. She also serves as an Executive Board Member of the Children and Family Law Society. She now works for Iris Domestic Violence Center where she assists in advocating for victim of domestic violence seeking protective orders.
Recently, Deon happily embraced a new chapter in her life by marrying her husband in April of 2023. With a now expanded family, she is grateful to be surrounded by love and support through her journey to become an attorney that advocates for the rights of families and children, particularly victims of domestic violence.
Member-at-Large: LeKeisha Jefferson

LaKeisha N. Jefferson is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and an attorney in the greater New Orleans area with a concentration in family and domestic law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1999, from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she majored in English and Writing. She later earned a Juris Doctorate Degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2002.
Upon graduation from law school, LaKeisha served as a legislative intern for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans and then began her professional career as a law clerk. LaKeisha began her own practice in 2005, focusing primarily on domestic and family law and began advocating for the rights and protections of domestic violence victims. LaKeisha also served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of New Orleans, as a Staff Attorney for Project SAVE, a contract attorney for Southeastern Louisiana Legal Services as well as conflicts counsel for the Orleans Indigent Defender Program. Additionally, LaKeisha is a child custody mediator qualified by the Louisana State Bar Association and has been appointed to mediate contentious child custody cases.
LaKeisha’s affiliations include: the Louisiana State Bar Association, Independent Women’s Organization, Les Femmes PAC, Greater New Orleans Martinet Legal Society, New Orleans Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, New Orleans Chapter of the Alumnae Association of Spelman College and the New Orleans Black Chamber of Commerce. Lakeisha was recently elected to the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Division H and will be serving New Orleans’ families as a family court judge in January, 2024.
Member-at-Large: Stephen Bradley
Safety and Technology Expert
Dallas, TX
With an extensive law enforcement career focusing on investigating crimes against persons, specializing in sex crimes, child abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, and crimes against the elderly, Steven Bradley was recruited by the FBI to investigate technology and cyber related crimes. After graduating the FBI Academy with honors, he began combating many types of technology related crimes including cyber-terrorism, network intrusions, cyberstalking, financial exploitation, and apprehending child predators. Later in his career, Steven began working with National and State Coalitions, as well as local domestic violence/sexual assault centers on bridging the gaps between law enforcement and community partners to better support survivors and victims. It was there, that Steven led many group discussions and trainings on proper investigative techniques and working together for offender accountability. Now as part of the OurFamilyWizard professional team, Steven further promotes the empowerment and healthy communication between separated and divorced parents via technology. Steven is internationally recognized as an expert on law enforcement’s response to intimate partner violence, technology forensics, and stalking/cyberstalking. As an International Trainer for over 28 years, Steven is known for his real world practical education and has provided training throughout the globe on many related topics.

Judge

The Honorable Judge Erika L. Green was elected to the Family Court for East Baton Rouge Parish, Division B, in November 2021. Prior to being elected, Judge Green was a solo practitioner at her law firm, Law Office of Erika Green, LLC, handling estate, family, and civil matters. She also was employed as a Child in Need of Care Attorney for Southeast Legal Services, a Foster Care Provider for the Department of Children and Family Services, and an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Louisiana Workforce Commission, all while working as an adjunct professor for Southern University Law Center.
Beyond her legal practice, she has an extensive history of community service, including serving six years as the East Baton Rouge Metro Councilwoman for District 5. She is an active member of the Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., NOBLE, Top Ladies of Distinction Nonpareil Chapter, Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louis A. Martinet Society, Louisiana Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges, Louisiana Judicial Council/National Bar Association, American Judges Association, Louisiana District Judges Association, National Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, and Baton Rouge Bar Association. In 2017, she founded Imagination Leads a nonprofit whose mission is to connect
and promote cultural and literary experiences and leadership development programs in communities of color.
Judge Green has received a number of awards including the PVAMU Humanitarian Award, the Lottie B. Shackleford Award for Community and Political Involvement Award from Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, and the Baton Rouge Business Report’s 40 Under 40.
Judge Green is a 2010 graduate of Southern University Law Center, and a 2007 graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a specialization in Juvenile Justice. She is also the proud mom of an energetic puppy, Thurgood.

Our Family Wizard

Kevin’s role includes educating judges, attorneys, mediators,
GAL’s, and other family law professionals on the online tools that can be utilized to benefit and monitor parental communication in high conflict cases. Kevin travels the country speaking and exhibiting at dozens of continuing legal education conferences and seminars each year. Kevin graduated from the University of Denver receiving a BA in Music and Political Science.
Mental Health Student Member: Taylor Vautrot

Taylor Vautrot is a Senior at Louisiana State University studying Psychology and Social Work. Upon graduation in May 2025, she plans to pursue higher education and obtain licensure to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Her specific interest is in early adolescents who have externalizing behavior disorders.

Taylor has not only been passionate about her future career in Psychology, but also how this intersects with important aspects of the legal field. She hopes to provide support to children and families within her community.
